Summit of CSTO leaders started
The heads of the six states will discuss topical aspects of improving the collective security system.
The summit of leaders of the CSTO countries began in Moscow. They will discuss improving the peacekeeping potential of the organization, as well as deepening military cooperation.
As expected, the leaders will sum up the results of the work done over the past years, discuss topical aspects of improving the collective security system, the peacekeeping potential of the organization, as well as ways to fine-tune mechanisms for rapid response to crisis situations, taking into account the experience of the CSTO peacekeeping operation in Kazakhstan, according to the materials for the summit.
It is planned to discuss issues of deepening military cooperation and effective counteraction to the whole range of traditional and new challenges and threats, including those emanating from the territory of Afghanistan.
Separate attention, according to the documents, will be given to issues of biological safety.
It is reported that traditional exercises are planned this year using the forces and means of the CSTO collective security system on the territory of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
