In Kazakhstan, there are two sizes of MCI

Currently, there are two sizes of MCI in Kazakhstan - 3,063 tenge and 3,180 tenge - each for different purposes, Sputnik writes.

Recall that from January 1, 2022, the MCI was set in Kazakhstan in the amount of 3,063 tenge, and since April, due to amendments to the republican budget, the size of this indicator has increased to 3,180 tenge. The subsistence minimum, which is used to calculate all social payments, has increased from 36,018 tenge to 37,389 tenge.

Sputnik Kazakhstan turned to the Ministry of Finance with a question about how various payments and payments, the amount of which is tied to the MCI, will now be calculated.

The ministry explained that in April the government and the National Bank made a joint decision to clarify the indicators for 2022 as part of the Forecast of the socio-economic development of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2022-2026. Thus, the inflation corridor for 2022 has been increased from 4–6% to 8–10%, i.e., inflation growth amounted to 4%.

With this in mind, from April 1, 2022, the amount of pension payments and benefits has been increased by an additional 4%.

In aggregate, in 2022, the growth of pension payments compared to the previous year is 11% (outpacing the inflation rate by 2%), the basic pension payment and benefits - 9%.

For penalties, taxes and other payments in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the MCI established from January 1, 2022 in the amount of 3,063 tenge will be applied.
