Oil companies reacted to the greening of Atyrau without enthusiasm
More than a month ago, Yerzhan Abylkhanov, the deputy akim of the region, said that a ten-year project for greening Atyrau with the participation of large companies (TCO, NCOC, EMG, AOR and others, about 20 in total) had been prepared, and a corresponding memorandum would be signed within 1-2 weeks…But something went wrong.
At a recent meeting in the regional administration, Kadyrzhan Arystan, the head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management said that the companies do not show much interest in this topic.
“More than a month has passed, and they are still "considering" the draft memorandum prepared by us. At the same time, they refer to financial difficulties and try to reduce the area allocated to them for greening areas,“ K. Arystan said.
According to the department, the total area of these sites is 6 thousand hectares. In particular, Tengizchevroil should create a "green belt" on the territory of the Kaiyrshakhty rural district (1722 hectares), NCOC - along the Sokolok canal (1374 hectares), Atyrau Refinery - on the territory of the Tukhlaya Balka evaporation fields (1421 hectares).
