Over two tons of sturgeon were seized in Atyrau region in a month and a half
The autumn stage of the operational and preventive measure "Bekire-2020" has ended, ATPress.kz reports.
As noted in the press service of the police department of the Atyrau region, these measures include the fight against poaching, as well as the identification and suppression of any illegal trade in fish and fish products. For a month and a half, from September 10 to October 31, police officers revealed 171 violations, including 162 facts of poaching and violations of fishing rules and nine facts of illegal fish transport.
During this period, 174 violators were detained, from whom 2 tons of 645 kg of fish were seized, most of which, 2 tons 031 kg, are of sturgeon breeds. In addition, two kilograms of black caviar, 162 units of fishing gear and 9 floating equipment were seized (six boats of which are poacher sea boat). 12 criminal cases were initiated: four under article 335 ("Illegal fishing") and eight under article 339 ("Illegal treatment of rare and endangered species of plants and animals") of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In addition, administratively, for violation of fishing rules (Article 383 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan), 158 protocols were drawn up, of which seven materials were sent for consideration to the court. Along with this, the internal affairs bodies imposed fines for a total amount of 2.1 million tenge, of which 944 thousand tenge were collected.
